Terms of Service
These terms describe the rules for using Truen, including candidate profiles, employer tools, GitHub analysis, optional AI-tool signals, share links, and AI-assisted hiring decision support.
Last updated: July 12, 2026
Nature of the service
Truen provides evidence-based hiring decision support. Truen is not an employment agency, staffing firm, background-check company, consumer reporting agency, or guarantee of employment, interviews, or candidate performance. Employers remain solely responsible for every hiring, rejection, screening, and introduction decision.
Accounts and eligibility
- You must provide accurate account information and keep credentials secure.
- By creating an account, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the AI Disclosure.
- Employer accounts have one workspace with Jobs and Directories. Employers are responsible for using public GitHub sourcing and directory tools only for lawful, authorized hiring activities.
Student and candidate responsibilities
- You may only connect GitHub repositories that you have the right to authorize Truen to access and analyze.
- Do not connect proprietary, employer-owned, client-owned, school-restricted, confidential, or third-party code unless you have permission to do so.
- If you upload AI coding-tool signals through Truen Connect, you must only include projects and excerpts you are allowed to share, and you must review the upload preview before confirming.
- You understand that Truen Profiles may include strengths, weaknesses, risks, limitations, flags, insufficient-evidence findings, and interview follow-ups.
- You grant Truen a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to ingest, temporarily process, analyze, generate, store derived outputs, display, and share selected repository-derived evidence and optional AI-tool signals as needed to operate the service — including embedding selected snippets in your profile and sharing frozen snapshots through application and directory flows you initiate.
- Raw GitHub content used for generation is a temporary working set and is deleted from Truen’s databases after each settled generation run, including failed runs after retries are exhausted. Derived insights, profile outputs, and evidence snippets embedded in the profile may persist as described in the Privacy Policy.
Applications, recruiter submissions, and profile snapshots
- When you apply to a role, Truen shares a frozen copy of your Truen Profile with that employer.
- When you submit your profile to a listed recruiter, Truen shares a frozen copy with that recruiter. That recruiter may create a time-limited, revocable Truen share link for startup clients they represent.
- A later regeneration of your live profile does not automatically change an already-submitted application or recruiter snapshot.
- The employer or recruiter may also generate AI-assisted qualification analysis based on role or brief criteria and available Truen evidence.
Direct employer responsibilities
- Employers must use Truen as decision support only and may not rely on Truen outputs as the sole basis for hiring, rejection, or other employment decisions.
- Employers are responsible for complying with employment, anti-discrimination, privacy, automated decision-making / AI hiring, recordkeeping, and candidate-notice laws that apply to them.
- Employers may not scrape Truen, use candidate data to train external models, or use Truen outputs for non-hiring decisions.
- Except through product features that explicitly support sharing, employers may not redistribute candidate profiles outside their legitimate hiring process.
Recruiter responsibilities
- Recruiters must use Truen as decision support for introductions and client hiring processes, not as an automated hiring decision system.
- If you source a public GitHub report, you must only do so for candidates you are authorized to assess, and you must complete the product attestation. Public reports may analyze only public repositories.
- Share links are for legitimate client hiring review. You are responsible for who you send links to, for revoking links when appropriate, and for complying with privacy and employment laws applicable to your recruiting activity.
- Do not scrape Truen, use candidate data to train external models, or use Truen outputs for purposes unrelated to recruiting and hiring evaluation.
- Recruiter share links expire and can be revoked, but recipients may have already viewed or copied displayed content. Treat shared profiles as sensitive.
AI-generated outputs
- Truen Profiles, public-GitHub reports, qualification fit assessments, flags, limitations, and interview questions are AI-assisted interpretations and may be incomplete, incorrect, outdated, or low-confidence.
- Truen favors insufficient evidence over unsupported conclusions, but users must independently verify important information.
- Qualification fit labels such as Strong fit, Partial fit, Insufficient evidence, and Not a fit are not final hiring decisions.
- Optional AI collaboration assessments depend on connected AI-tool evidence. Without sufficient connected evidence, that section may show as not yet assessed or insufficient evidence.
Acceptable use
- Do not create fake accounts, misrepresent identity or ownership of repositories, attempt to bypass access controls, or interfere with Truen systems.
- Do not use Truen to discriminate unlawfully, harass candidates, infer protected characteristics, or make decisions unrelated to legitimate hiring or recruiting evaluation.
- Truen may suspend or terminate access for misuse, security risk, or violation of these terms.
Service availability and changes
Profile generation, GitHub syncing, AI-tool ingestion, qualification analysis, and share links may fail, be delayed, return insufficient evidence, expire, or change as the product evolves. Truen may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. Because raw GitHub evidence is not retained after generation, regeneration depends on continued GitHub authorization and successful re-ingest.
Intellectual property
- Truen and its branding, software, and documentation remain owned by Truen and its licensors.
- You retain ownership of your code and content. The license you grant Truen is limited to operating and improving the service as described in these terms and the Privacy Policy.
- Generated Truen Profiles and assessments are service outputs provided for authorized hiring and recruiting use under these terms.
Disclaimers
TRUEN IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TRUEN DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TRUEN DOES NOT WARRANT THAT OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, ERROR-FREE, OR SUITABLE AS THE SOLE BASIS FOR ANY EMPLOYMENT DECISION.

THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY EVEN IF A REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Truen from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, your connection or analysis of repositories or AI-tool data you were not authorized to share, your employment or recruiting decisions, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of Truen after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
